More information on vintage clothing BELOW!
Please reach us at DenimEvaluation@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
This depends on a number of factors listed in order of importance:
Age: If your find is newer than the late 1980s, it will likely be worth $50 or less, while denim from the 1950s or older can be worth thousands of dollars!
Brand: Levi's jeans and jackets dominate the vintage market, but brands like Lee, Carhartt, and others can still net you a round-trip beach vacation!
Design: Jeans and jackets are typically worth the most, while overalls, coveralls, hats/boots/gloves are less expensive.
Condition: Oddly enough, condition is doesn't prevent a garment from having considerable value. The above mentioned factors will determine the value. We have paid thousands of dollars for items that were in destroyed condition.
Let us help: This can be a very deep and complicated topic. The easiest way to determine the age of your find is to send us photos and the details of how/where it was found.
Age it yourself: There are a few foolproof methods to eliminate the possibility that your garment is from the last 30-40 years (low value).
The first of these methods is to evaluate labels/tags. Simply put, if your garment was made anywhere BUT the United States, it is of little to no vintage value.
The second method is to examine the tags/labels for their style. If their is a tag that contains foreign languages, then it is fairly modern and of little to no vintage value.
The third method is where it gets complicated. If there are no interior tags, there is a chance that your garment is very old. Aside from that, it comes down to the stitching, button stamps, and general construction of the garment that will determine the age.
